Wedding Ring Quilt Part Two

Oh my, oh my, oh my, where does time go. I couldn’t believe just how far back I had to go to find WR Part One.  I am so lucky that my PB is so patient and that our weather has finally turned super hot (well it’s super hot to me) and all you need or want right now is a sheet covering you.  So the pieces are all cut out.  All 2,016 of them. I used my oh so fabulous “Accuquilt Go Cutter”.  If I didn’t have that I might still be cutting.  It is such a treasure.

So we’re off….yeah!!!  I have started to strip piece the first 2 pieces…will show you my progress as I go along. And no, it will not be xxxxx months.  I am aiming to be done by the end of August.

Western Washington Shop Hop

What fun!! Joan and I set off at 8:15 for our first ever shop hop.

We had our brochure and trusty “Shirly” (my gps) to lead the way.

Our first stop was in Lynden and I was so excited, I leaped out of the car and forgot to turn the engine off.  That set the mood for the day.  A lot of laughs and a whole lot of fun!!!

Here’s the store and as you can see….I didn’t run in  to it.  Actually I think this was the last of 3 stores that we stopped at in Lynden.  I didn’t run in to the first one either.

This is downtown Lynden.  Cool windmill huh!!

Now we are in Bellingham at Fourth Corner Quilts and Joan is showing us how quilting should be done.  “Shouldn’t you take off your sunglasses Joan?”

This is a fire hydrant all ready for July 4th in Anacortes.

Anacortes again…..wouldn’t this make a cute little quilt?

On our way to Oak Harbor we stopped and took a picture of Deception Pass…pretty heh!! (my canadianese is showing)

Gathering Fabrics is in Woodinvale.  Look at the cute little banner.  I felt like a star when we parked here.  There was a policeman and he moved a red traffic cone to let me park right in front of the store…cool heh!!

This is the shop hop display in Gathering Fabrics. So cute !!

Next on our list, Keepsake Cottage Fabrics in Bothell

Look at this little guy outside Keepsake Cottage Fabrics

And his cousin!!!

Joan fell in love with the idea of making an umbrella out of fabric.  Soooo…we are going back to The Needle and I mid-July and we are going to make one.  Exciting!!

This little mat was in Aunt Mary’s Quilt Shop.  What a great idea!!

Don’t you love the duck outside The Quiltmakers Shop in Arlington.

And here is my shop hop loot…a magazine, material for blocks, announcements of classes coming up…be still my heart

Back from Vacation

Long time no hear from.  Well we were away for 14 days and it is so hard to get back in to the swing of things.  I would much rather be walking on the beach and swimming in the ocean and just sitting and reading a good book. I’ll give you a couple of picture hints as to where we were….

A beautiful pink hibiscus mmmm…where could that be??

My favourite tropical flower.

Mmmmm….now where could this be???

If you guessed Maui, then you were right.  I love Hawaii.  I think I say that every time we are there.  The air is so soft and it smells so incredible.  The water is warm and the pineapple….well let’s just say it’s very different from what we have here.  It is so sweet and yummy delicious.

Actually, I am glad to be home.  I missed my puppy and I missed sewing.  I curbed my withdrawals by going shopping for fabric.  When you can’t sew go shopping for fabric…right!!!!!

So here is half of the Kona cotton that I bought.  Look at all those incredible colors.

Two fat quarters that just jumped in to my arms…what’s a girl to do, I ask???

And last but definitely not least Amy Butlers “Soul Blossoms”.  I have been lusting after this fabric ever since it came out.  And now I have some.  Yeah me!!!!!!

A Purse for the Princess

So when we were down shopping for the material for the  wedding ring quilt my PB saw the cutest pattern from Amy Butler for a purse.   So of course we had to get it. And of course we had to get some material to make it.  After all the WRQ is going to take a while.  Even longer cuz I haven’t started working on it and we are going away on Saturday for 2 weeks.  Anyway, when I get back this will be my first priority and then the WRQ and , and , and ….well you get the idea.  Here’s a pic so that you can see why we just had to get it.

Isn’t it just too cute!!!
